Connie Von Mendelssohn –
Beautifully done, but if it’s in the original key of D, it is simply ” Air
“, and NOT Air on a G String, as millions mistakenly think. The work now
known as the Air on a G String is an arrangement for the violin made in the
19th Century from the Air of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 3
in D major. Bach originally wrote the suite for his patron Prince Leopold
of Anhalt sometime between the years 1717 and 1723. It only attracted this
nickname in 1871 when the German violinist August Wilhelmj (1845-1908) made
a violin and piano arrangement of the second movement of this orchestral
suite. By changing the key into C major and transposing the melody down an
octave, Wilhelmj was able to play the piece on only one string of his
violin, the G string. Still one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever
written, regardless, whatever the key or title.

The guitarist is Dr. Emre Sabuncuoglu, the online instructor
for the Los Angeles Guitar Academy. He is also the arranger for all of the
transcriptions he plays, not to mention that he has a doctorate in music
and a masters in mathematics. Check out his bio

I’ll say one thing,
I may not be able to afford your arrangements but they are definitely
some of the best arrangements available,
and for the solo performer the arrangement is everything:)
David Concepcion –
Nicely arranged. I’m going to study this piece today.

I am still getting the notes under my fingers, but the beauty of Bach paired with this stellar arrangement sustains and rewards practice time. Be prepared to stretch index and ring finger across four frets. The chromaticism/resolutions are achingly good. Notation and tabs well marked. LAGA is a find and not just for crazy advanced pros.
timandoni –
Best tablature for this piece I’ve found, Thanks.
Martin Ahumada –
I bought the music sheet of the arrangement for guitar of Bach’s Air and had a lot of fun learning it. Having the sheet and the youtube video for some support was a great experience and helped me improve a lot my guitar technique. I look forward to learn more of Emre Sabuncuoglu’s arrangements, and I completely recommend them!
