This toque, today most likely found in a dance form, or in music for solo guitar, gets its name from the people of two northern Spanish provinces, Asturias and Galicia. The people, called farrucos, likely brought the music to Cadiz, where the form began. The farruca is only occasionally performed as a cante, for it is not one of the more emotionally intense toques. It does, however, make an appealing guitar solo. Chords in this toque are usually in the key positions found in A minor, sometimes in other minor keys.
