A Spanish pianist and composer, Granados infused his compositions with authentic Spanish style. Though a pianist by profession, Granados “heard” his pieces as if they were played upon the guitar as he composed. When played by a guitarist, therefore, his pieces come alive. Given the significance of the guitar in Spanish music and culture, his music is a great example of musical nationalism.
