Suggested Reading

One of the best ways to jump-start your musical training is to read as much as you can about music. Knowing your instrument’s history, the history of your chosen style, as well as the lives and cultures of the people who shaped the art can really help you to understand how to play a given piece of music.  Practical advice, such as the proper care of your instrument, as well as information on techniques, can help you progress faster, since such information is otherwise obtained by trial-and error. Reading about music theory can also help you progress at a more rapid rate. Theory helps you understand the relationship between the notes that you play, and how those notes work together to produce melody and harmony. To this end, we have furnished the site with some great links to articles and resources that will help you grow as a musician.
